About Me

After completing my higher education in Mass Communication at the Open University of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Foundation institution, I first joined the Divaina newspaper in 1992 as a news reporter.

I later joined the Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation in 1994 and worked as a programmer.I joined swarnawahini in 1997, as a presenter, news anchor, co-producer and an assistant video editor.

My next employment opportunity was at TV Derana, I joined the channel in 2005.I am currently working as a presenter, news anchor and a senior program director and I’m currently the General Manager of the News and Current Affairs Division.

I announced myself as a news anchor via the hourly news bulletins of swarnawahini and went on to become a main news anchor for the prime time bulletin, ‘Live At 8’.

 

My career as a writer started when I was a kid, as I wrote various articles for the newspapers.Later I worked as a writer for the Divaina newspaper and was able to pass millstones in my writing career.I currently pen down columns for Aruna, one of Sri Lanka’s leading national newspapers and Rejiniya a popular women’s newspaper. I will soon debut as an author as I intend to release my first book “When I Was Little.”

I Set foot upon the path of my career as a Radio Announcer from the esteemed Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation in 1992.
“Me Ape Kalayai” , “Ammawarune” , “Liya Madala” , “Subhasmini Aara” were few of the many Programmes that I presented and steered during this time spent at the SLBC.
Thereafter, conquering the Television Screen was made increasingly special as of the fact that , my First ever involvement with Television was through Sri Lanka Rupavahini Corporation ; for the Programme “Kiyawana Nuwana” produced by G.M Senaratne and Presented by Professor Sunanda Mahendra.
Subsequently, I had the opportunity to show my prowess through the Programme “Kanda Malla” around the Years 93 and 94.
Joining the Swarnawahini Corporation in 1997 as a Presenter, I continued my journey as a News Anchor and a Presenter. With Programmes that are journalistic, political and Timely, such as “Unusum Wimasum” , “Deshapalana Sathiya” and “Live at 8”, and with programmes such as Sangeetha Chaarika and Swarna Warna, I served the Swarnawahini Corporation for 8 Consecutive Years.
It is in 2005 I reached the most imperative and influencial milestone in my life and in my Career. That is , Joining TV Derana . As of now and today , I have come far as a Programme Presenter and News Anchor for 15 Cherish able Years with TV Derana.

Sathutu Wila , Paththara Gedara , Walipilla , Talking Book , Jeewithayata Idak , The Challenge , Senehasa , To the Point , Mission Two, are TV Programmes that I currently contribute to alongside being a “Ada Derana” News Presenter.

Though my career had already begun, I first became a journalist with the Newspaper “Diwayina” in the Years 1993 and 1994. In this journey starting of as a Reporter for “Diwayina” , to being a Television Presenter at Swarnawahini thereafter, to being on board with TV Derana for 15 Years, I was able to contribute my aptitude as a News Anchor and Programme Presenter.
Composing Documentary Programmes was always something I held dear and admired throughout my life. With the keen interest of Producing Programmes as such , I was able to concoct numerous Programmes including “Welipilla” , “Paththara Gedara” , “The Challenge” and “Senehasa” in my very own novel concepts that later on went on to win Many Prestigious Awards.

It was since childhood that I manifested an undying passion for writing. Writing articles for newspapers and several magazines at the Outset, I began writing Feature Stories and Articles down the line.
Composing Scripts for Television and constructing articles for Newspapers and Magazines are things I wholeheartedly Glorify and Admire .
Presently , At the time of writing , I am actively engaged in publishing My own Material and Articles via Social Media Platforms, while being a Freelance Writer for the Women’s Newspapers , Rajiniya and Dharani and the National Newspaper ”Aruna“.
